A man has a wash by the side of the road from an improvised shower. Once while waiting in the car I saw an onld man washing in a puddle - it was one of the saddest things I have ever seen.
Childeren Showimng off for the camera. As soon as childeren see a camera they swarm you and start showing off. They love to see the pictures on the digital screens and when ever possible we returned with printed pictures to give them.
Meskel Square - the heart of Addis
Big football matches are shown on the giant screen in the evenings and the square fills with young men. Ethiopians are football crazy and follow the English Premier league fanaticaly. Most taxis will have stickers in the windows declairing love of r Arsenal or Manchester United !

Photos of Ethiopia Just for Dave !
These are from the building site of a new Church. Everything is done by hand, right down to breakthing up rubble to use as gravel on the road. All the scafolding is made form the trunks of Eucalyptus trees. Metal scafolding is unheard of.
The guys in these pictures said to us 'Why are you taking boring pictures of a building? Why don't you take our picture instead?' So we did.
This is what the finished building will look like.
